KOMPSAT-3

KOMPSAT-3 is an optical high-resolution Korean observation mission providing sub-metre imagery for GIS, environmental, agricultural, and global climate change applications. The spacecraft body-points ±45° cross-track or along-track, so it can monitor events and collect stereo in a single pass.

What you can do with KOMPSAT-3

Detail at 0.7m GSD

At 0.7m GSD, buildings, road networks, field boundaries and mature trees read clearly, while street-level objects do not. The panchromatic band carries that geometry, and the 2.8m GSD multispectral bands are pansharpened against it, so colour products hold the same detail.

Standard index bands

Blue, green, red and near-infrared cover the everyday products: true colour, colour infrared, and the indices built from red and near-infrared (NDVI) or green and near-infrared (NDWI). Those index rasters carry the 2.8m GSD multispectral sampling, not the 0.7m GSD panchromatic figure.

One satellite collecting

Collection rests on a single spacecraft, so opportunities arrive on its orbit rather than on demand. As stated by the supplier: Agile body pointing ±45° roll, ±30° pitch. Pointing that far off nadir buys more chances at one area, at the cost of a more oblique look.

Stereo for elevation

Stereo pairs are collectable, so elevation comes out of the imagery itself instead of a global model: landform, terrain and the massing of built-up areas across your site.
